St. Xavier’s College
St. Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad, established in 1955, offers programmes in Arts-Humanities, Sciences, Computer Sciences and Commerce. Being one of the first colleges in the state of Gujarat to have been accredited by NAAC in the year 2001 with five stars, it has thereafter been an impetus to maintain a continuum of quality education and grow with every accreditation and the Autonomy status. The academic autonomy has allowed the institution to foray into higher realms of education. With its Ignatian pedagogical paradigm that encompasses the three elements of experience, reflection and action, a holistic view of the world is pronounced. The ethos and energy of the institution is due to its values, inclusiveness, equity and diverse cultures. Any student who has successfully completed the H.S.C. or its equivalent is eligible to apply. Students from other Boards, such as CBSC, ICSC, IB, etc., or from any foreign boards, are required to obtain a Provisional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) from Gujarat University before seeking admission to St. Xavier’s College.
 

Undergraduate Admissions

The college offers several undergraduate programmes in Arts and Humanities, Commerce, Computer Science and Science. A student may choose a particular programme, which will have 3 core subjects. The first core is the subject in which the student will graduate and will be taught in all six semesters, the second core subject will be taught for four semesters, while the third core subject will be taught for the first two semesters. These sets will be displayed prior to admission on the admission portal.

 

Postgraduate Admissions

Post-Graduation is a four semester programme which focus on specialization in a subject area that enables progression to either higher studies or commence a career of choice. Our PG programmes with industry orientation attract students from across the country. Admissions to PG programmes is based on merit and entrance examination. Commerce at SXCA enables students to understand finance, business strategies and processes. One of its programmes is highly specialized with the focus being on Business Process Services. The students learn about managing and executing business operations. This domain expertise can be offered to industries and institutions across the country for services such as accounting, analytics, HR and more.

 

Computer Sciences

The department of Computer Sciences has developed a curriculum that not only introduces the concepts and understanding of databases, data structure, programming languages and networking but also focuses on developing technical skills through experiential learning modules like Project works and product development.

Career Cell

The Career cell of the college helps to create awareness among students and conducts activities so that they are equipped to make informed choices. The career cell provides information regarding current career trends, and choice of subjects. Experts from industries and career counsellors are invited to facilitate career seminars, aptitude tests, and nuances of giving interviews and group discussions. The career cell has organized several workshops that enable students to draw out career plans, understand their strengths, and focus on the right kind of soft skills as well as technical skills.
