Indian Diamond Institute, Established at World’s biggest Diamond Manufacturing Centre “Surat” in Gujarat, India, in the year 1978, IDI is a registered Society and a Trust under Society Registration Act, 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 respectively & has been offering its services dedicatedly since last 43 years with passion, technology & innovation to the Diamond, Gems & Jewellery trade in India & abroad.
IDI is a Sponsored by Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, A Project of Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council.
IDI is the only institution in Gems & Jewellery field offering its Educational & Gemmological Laboratory services through its two campuses in the same city namely at Katargam & Vesu respectively, with approximately 1 Lac sq.ft. built up area of the campuses.
Teaching System
The emphasis is on practical training. Students are given training with a view to develop skill and high proficiency. Theoretical knowledge to supplement the practical training is also imparted. Audio-visual aids, films and charts are also used in imparting training. Institute strictly adheres to the Quality of Training.
Faculty
The institute has a well-trained and experienced faculty. Guest lecturers and eminent persons from the diamond and gem trade and industry address the students from time to time as visiting faculty.
Medium of Instruction
The medium of instruction is Hindi, English and Gujarati. A working knowledge of Hindi and Gujarati is desirable.

Bedded hostel for boys & girls are in the campus itself.
Boys’ Hostel :
Rooms are available for the students undergoing Graduate / Diploma / Certificate programmes. However, preference will be always given to those undertaking Graduate Diploma / Diploma programmes.
Girls’ Hostel :
Ten rooms with three beds (attached bath) are available for female students.
Gymnasium
To keep the staff & students (hosteliers / day scholars) physically fit, a gymnasium, equipped with modern health equipments, is made operational at boys’ hostel. On payment basis students may avail this facility.
Mess :
The institute’s mess managed by students. It supplies two meals to the hosteliers. It is compulsory for the residents of the hostel to take meals daily in the mess, in order to run the mess smoothly. Those desiring to have breakfast/refreshment/milk can place orders with the mess in-charge, for which they would be billed separately.
