Women Institute of Technology, Dehradun is affiliated to Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University Dehradun which was established in September 2012 with the approval of the State Government and AICTE. It is the first Women-Only engineering institute in the state of Uttarakhand. The Government Order vide 1193/XLI-1/2011-56/10, dated 15.11.2011 constituted the framework of the college. Thereafter, W.I.T. started functioning w.e.f. September 1^st, 2012 at the Dehradun campus.
The idea behind establishing the Institute was to empower women from rural and financially weaker sections of the society by providing technical knowledge and encouraging them to become confident & competent enough to meet the growing challenges of the professional world. In this aspect, W.I.T. has made tremendous progress by ensuring the availability of quality technical education to women students.

The Institute offers B. Tech. programs across five disciplines:

These courses are available for science intermediates (P.C.M.), Diploma, and B.Sc. students. The undergraduate courses run at W.I.T. are duly recognized by the State Government and approved by A.I.C.T.E. Placements through campus is our topmost priority and has generated employment opportunities in global companies. Several co-curricular activities such as sports, cultural events, debates, workshops, and seminars are organized regularly for encouraging the overall development of our students.
W.I.T., an AICTE Approved Government Engineering College, affiliated to Uttarakhand Technical University, has a student count of 435 with around 28 dedicated faculty members to encourage the students’ academic and extra-curricular pursuits to achieve excellence in their respective field. Our faculty members are from reputed institutions such as the IITs and NITs. In addition to facilitating excellent education, the Institute instills moral values like leadership, humanity, social values, and ethics in students for their overall development and contribution to society.
The Institute is situated on the outskirts of the Doon valley. W.I.T. has a sprawling campus with calm, serene, and natural surroundings with a backdrop of Shivalik hills on one side and a rippling river on the other side. The institute provides infrastructural facilities to the students conducive to achieving academic excellence. It has modern infrastructure, Smart lecture halls with modern Audio-Visual aids, laboratories, workshops, a well-equipped library with almost 20.000 books, and a computer center with Wi-Fi connectivity for all students and faculty.
The Board of Governors at W.I.T. comprises of eminent personalities from different fields that include academics, research, industry, and administration. The Board is actively involved in directing and monitoring the continuous development of the Institute.

• Admission for 1st year B.Tech. course through JEE mains (joint entrance examination) merit through Uttarakhand State Online Counselling

• Admission for the lateral entry of B.Tech. course is through UKSEE (Uttarakhand State Entrance Exam) which is conducted during the month of May/June

Qualification & Eligibility Requirements

• • Passed Intermediated examination from a recognised boards, with at-least 50% marks in PCM (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category in Science stream).

  • Passed diploma Examination from an AICTE approved institute, with at-least 50% Marks (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category in an appropriate branch of Engineering)

  • Passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized university as defined by UCPC, with at-least 50% marks (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) and passed XII standard with Mathematics.

  • Provided that in case of students belonging to B.Sc. stream shall clear the subjects of Engineering Graphics/Engineering Drawings & Engineering Mathematics of the first year Engineering programme along with the second year subjects.

  • Provided that in case of students belonging to B.Sc. stream shall be considered only after filling the super numeracy seats in this category with students belonging to the Diploma stream.

WIT Dehradun Placements

The college strives to ensure the maximum number of placement opportunities for its students. It focuses on skill development and the effective application of technology. The college has an actively functioning placement cell with cordial relationships with all industrial recruiters. The placement cell also organizes relevant training programs for its students to be abreast of dynamic industry standards. 

The faculty is passionate and helpful and focuses on the overall development of their students, both in technical knowledge and soft skills. Women Institute of Technology has even signed an MoU with the Industries Association of Uttarakhand (IAU) for enhancement of placement opportunities available to the students. 

Students from the institute actively participated in the Uttarakhand Investor’s Summit 2018 where they attended various workshops set up by industrial recruiters and found themselves exposed to articulated, placement related training by industrial professionals. The college has always been passionate about its students’ future and has facilitated many global recruiters to visit the college during the placement season. 

WIT Dehradun Scholarships

Women Institute of Technology awards scholarships to meritorious and financially challenged students through a number of scholarship programs. Some of these programs and their respective provisions are listed below: 

• The institute provides a 100% tuition fee waiver to the students belonging to families lying under the poverty line (2-3 seats per program) and a 50% tuition fee waiver to the students applying for a “mercy” scholarship.

• Various central schemes under the Ministry Of Minority Affairs like Post Matriculation Scholarship Schemes for Minorities, Merit Cum Means Scholarships for Professional and Technical Courses are supported by the institute for the betterment of meritorious students.

• Other state schemes like Post Matriculation Scholarships for the OBC, SC and
  ST candidates of Bihar, Uttarakhand, Tripura, J&K, etc. are also channeled by the institute for the growth and development of category candidates.
