Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University erstwhile known as Bhavnagar University, is a State University, recognized by UGC, established in 1978 by the State of Gujarat and sprawling in the vast 269 acres of land and spread over 3 locations, located in Bhavnagar city in the western province of Gujarat, India. It is accredited by NAAC, New Delhi. The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The university gives teaching and research programs in Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Management, Rural Studies, Medicine and Law Faculties. It has 20 PG departments and four recognized institutes and research centers respectively. The university provides many UG, PG, PhD and Post Graduate Diploma courses in various disciplines and its specializations.

The post graduate courses run are MA, M. Sc, M. Phil, PhD, MCA, MBA, M. Com, Post graduate diploma and MSW.

The minimum eligibility requirement for B. Com is passed in 10+2 in commerce subject.
For BBA, BCA and B.L.I.Sc, the eligibility requirements are passed in 10+2.
The minimum eligibility for admission in MA, PhD, M. Sc, MBA, MCA, MSW and M. Com is passed in graduation in a related field.
For all the above courses, the selection criteria is merit in the qualifying examination
The minimum eligibility requirement for PhD is passed in master’s degree with 55% aggregate marks
Selection for PhD is based on the merit in the qualifying and entrance examination.
